Cobar Receives “Honorable Mention” for IPC Technical Conference Paper to be presented at APEX Expo 2009

Cobar BV, a member of the Balver Zinn Group, has been honored by the IPC’s Technical Program Committee, in respect to a technical paper to be presented at the upcoming APEX Expo. The event will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center, March 31 - April 2, 2009 in Las Vegas.

The honor was received in writing from the IPC Technical Program Committee: “This paper reflects extremely well upon the author and upon Cobar Europe B.V. All of the papers considered were of a very high standard and Cobar should feel extremely proud that the panel selected this paper for an “Honorable Mention” in the ‘International’ category.

The paper is to be co-presented by Cobar’s Gerjan Diepstraten and Doctor Di Wu, in technical session S19, ‘Paste and Printing’ on Wednesday, April 1 at 10:15 a.m. The paper is titled ‘Estimating Stencil Life and Ideal Heating Profile of Solder Paste Using Advanced Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis’, and will describe and demonstrate how a manufacturing engineer can use Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) tools to develop optimal solder paste heating profiles for SMT reflow, under both nitrogen and air atmospheres.

Cobar’s co-presenters will receive individual plaques to celebrate this achievement during the APEX Keynote Ceremonies. Gerjan Diepstraten is Process Support Manager for Cobar Europe. His engineering experience spans 27 years, with the last 18 years in soldering. Di Wu, Ph.D. is a Research and Development Scientist at Cobar Europe. Originally from TianJin, China, Dr. Wu finished his bachelor degree in Chemistry at NanKai University in 1991 and moved to the Netherlands in 2002.
