Contax Exhibits at National Electronics Week (NEW)

Production automation system specialist, Contax Ltd, is exhibiting on stands E70 and E71 at National Electronics Week (NEW) at Earls Court 2 on 17-19 June 2008. There will be a number of elements to Contax’s participation this year. The Company will be launching 3 new products, and showing one product range for the first time in the UK.

mpm 125In addition, it will be offering free, live, x-ray inspection, and two of its production systems will form part of NEW’s live assembly line demonstration.

Live Assembly Line – Stand A80

Contax have been invited to take part in the live production line demonstration on stand A80, and will be supplying two machines. These are, the new Speedline MPM 125 printer that will be launched at the Show, and the highly acclaimed Universal Instruments Genesis placement machine.

Free X-Ray Inspection – Stands E70-E71

On its stands E70 and E71, Contax will be inviting visitors to bring in sample boards for a free, live, x-ray inspection using a phoenix nanome|x. The resulting images can then be recorded on the visitors’ own memory stick to take away for future reference.

This offer is available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. The sample can measure up to 460mm x 360mm with a maximum weight of 10kg, so testing is not limited to PCBs.

Three New Product Launches – Stands E70-E71

In addition, Contax will be exhibiting 15 systems on their stand, representing a selection from their extensive portfolio. These are designed to cover all production needs from cable assembly through to PCB preparation and include: laser marking, printing, placement, reflow, conveyoring, soldering, AOI, x-ray, humidity storage and cleaning.

Contax will be launching three new products at NEW. These are:
  • Speedline MPM 125 printer. Running live on the production line on stand A80, the MPM 125 is a new affordable system for low to medium volume applications. Providing high +/- 12.5 micron accuracy at 6 sigma and excellent repeatability, the system is easy to use and offers a high performance for price ratio.
  • Essemtec SP600 batch printer. Designed for medium volume production or as a standalone to cover peak loads, the SP600 is the first fully automated batch printer with a shuttle system. This makes it ideally suited to handling difficult printing tasks.
  • Essemtec Pantera-XV placement machine. Available in two models: Pantera-XV with vision, and the basic version, Pantera-X, the systems combine sophisticated technology from Essemtec’s FLX range with the feeder capability from the CSM7100 series. The result is a highly efficient and compact machine, which provides outstanding features at an affordable price.

Furthermore, a range of Rommel laser marking equipment will be on show for the first time in the UK. This includes a laser marker for top and bottom side marking, product stacker and out-feed conveyor .

Additional equipment on the stand will include the newly launched Komax Kappa 330 cut and strip machine and Komax bt 722 benchtop press for cable assembly. For reflow and soldering, the Essemtec RO300FC reflow oven, ATF VP400 vapour phase soldering system, Pillarhouse Jade selective soldering and MTA BT303 bentchtop robotic soldering will be on display.

Other systems comprise: the phoenix x|ray nanome|x which will be undertaking the free board testing for visitors, Omron VT-RNS in-line optical inspection system, McDry DXU501 humidity cabinet and Kolb PS31 cleaning system.

“This will be our most comprehensive exhibition to date,” said Mike Rapson, Managing Director at Contax Ltd. “Most of the equipment that we are exhibiting on the stand will be operational, and, of course, we will be taking part in the live production line demonstration, and offering our own free x-ray inspections.

“The NEW exhibition has all the makings of a major success story, and we are very happy to be part of the Show. With new products from Speedline and Essemtec, and further offerings from Universal, Komax, phoenix and Omron, we will have some of the world’s most highly acclaimed production systems on display. These provide a small selection of the extensive range of over 120 systems that we have available to meet the needs of any manufacturing environment,” he said.
