Juki to Showcase a Range of Leading Equipment at APEX 2010

Juki FX-3Juki Corporation will showcase a range of leading products in booth #1735 at the upcoming IPC/APEX conference and exhibition, scheduled to take place April 6-8, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas.

With IPC speed of 60K cph, the FX-3XL (large board size 22" x 24") expands Juki’s presence into the ultra-high-speed assembly market while delivering on Juki’s standards for high quality, reliability and cost of ownership. The modular FX-3 fits seamlessly into Juki’s portfolio of products and adds its powerful optimization software and quick-change feeder banks to set the standard for electronics manufacturing uptime.

The KE3020XL (large board size 22" x 24") is the newest flexible placement machine from Juki that offers the flexibility, accuracy, and repeatability to produce the high quality products that your customers demand. The KE302XL fits seamlessly inline with the FX-3XL giving you unlimited production capability.

Juki will also display its new, motor-driven electronic feeder that is ideal for steadily feeding ultra small components, sensitively and fast. With the electronic feeder, there is no need to stop the machine when replenishing components using the splicing function. This drastically reduces downtime, allowing components to be easily replenished at any time. The electronic feeder makes setting the feed pitch simple to change with just the press of a button, and status is displayed by a seven segment LED. Feeder loading and unloading is simple. Simply slide back to unload and slide in after loading the feeder.

Featuring superior cost performance, versatility, reliable quality and easy operation, the JX-100 can now be used inline to support long, narrow LED board applications that are quickly growing in demand. However, at its price point, the JX-100 is also well suited for NPI and low-volume/OEM applications. The system produces maximum effect with minimum investment, and combines high versatility with a reasonable price, is easy to operate, and has a small footprint. It is also optimal for companies starting out in surface mount, doing prototype production, or for adding capacity to an existing Juki line.

Focusing on essential functions and achieving high productivity in a compact body at low cost, the JX-100 uses the same highly accurate state-of-the-art laser centering found on higher end models. Featuring a smaller and lighter body, and a power-saving design, the mounter also has intelligent planning in the design that allows feeders and nozzles to be shared with other Juki models.

The FlexSolder W510 inline uses the same technology that has been so successful in the past but with a new flexible design, allowing the machine to be assembled anywhere and to allow complete option upgrades in the field. The advantage of the Juki selective soldering machine over competitors remains the same as in past machines with the ability to have multiple mini-wave nozzles soldering simultaneously or even better, running separately using two different size nozzles. The advantage is you that a nozzle as small as 1.8 mm can be used for tight areas (1 mm away from SMD or other components) on densely populated boards and a larger nozzle for making single passes on large connectors. This adds much needed flexibility to the process, allowing various soldering options with no changeover.

The FX-2 high-speed chip mounter is Juki’s latest high-speed modular mounter with production capacity increased by 20 percent over previous models, improved economical efficiency, operations and reliability. The FX-2 supports centering and placement of components from 0402 (01005) to 33.5 mm sq. Efficient, high-speed production lines can be created by connecting a high speed FX-3 or general purpose mounter such as the KE-2080. The FX-2 uses the same nozzles, feeders and production data as other Juki mounters, providing better use of assets and simpler operations on the production floor.

The KE-2080 is a sixth generation high-speed modular flexible mounter. Built on the one-piece SuperCast™ single casting base that includes the Y beams, the KE-2080 is designed with speed, accuracy and reliability in mind. Combined with the new LNC-60 high-resolution 360° component laser centering system and an improved magnascale resolution down to 1 mm, the KE-2080 is 25 percent more accurate than previous models capable of placing down to 01005 components.

The KE-2080 introduces the Load Cell option that gives the machine the ability to measure nozzle placement force necessary for high accuracy, stackable and fluxing applications. The KE-2080 also introduces new stepper motors in the conveyor system that allows for enhanced speed control for the entire conveyor. The motion control communications have been upgraded from serial communications to fiber optic communications, resulting in fewer and smaller cables with increased speed. A USB port now is available as a means of communication to and from the machine.

The TR-6 Matrix Tray Changer is equipped with a dual shuttle that brings the components to the head for picking. The main advantage of this system is that no feeder space is lost. Components with a minimum flat surface of 5 x 5 mm can be picked with a vacuum nozzle (TSOP, QFP, PLCC). Other rectangular components such as BGA, FBGA and connectors with a minimum outline of 17 x 17 mm will be handled mechanically.

IS Software raises production preparation, scheduling, quality and monitoring to a new level by bringing together related functions into one comprehensive software package. Using a server-based architecture, IS gives managers, supervisors, and engineers the tools that they need to streamline production and operate in the most efficient manner possible to reduce cost and improve overall productivity.

IS is composed of individual pieces of software specialized for each type of job classification and a series of options for higher added value. The client-server system connects the IS server and client PCs on which the software is installed via Ethernet, allowing you to manage multiple JUKI lines.

IFS-X2 is an RFID intelligent feeder system that uses a closed-loop interface for ensuring error free feeder setup. IFS-X2 also support board and component traceability that allows for component tracking down to the board level. IFS-X2 is innovative because it represents a significant milestone in the world of SMT manufacturing. Finally the connection is made between the OEM machine hardware and software and the rest of the factory. The system takes full advantage of Cogiscan leading-edge RFID technology and the new CAMX equipment communications standard to integrate the advanced Juki machine intelligence with the outside world, including components and feeders as well as other machines and manufacturing systems.
