Following our successful two day conference last year, that celebrated 25 years of the SMART Group’s existence, we proudly announce that we will celebrate our 26th anniversary with an equally exciting two day event. We can now announce the eminent world class team for this event to be held on 6th & 7th of October 2010 at our popular venue ‘The Oxfordshire GC Business Centre’.
Day One, 6th October, Keith Bryant SMART Group Chairman will welcome delegates. A Table Top exhibition will be open throughout the event.The Keynote Presentation is by Robert Gregory from Rolls Royce with his presentation: ‘Has the supplier chain broken down?’Mr Gregory is Chairman of the IAG for Pb-Free Electronics Risk Management (PERM)- the Manhattan Project for lead-free process problem mitigation PERM Consortium that is charted by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and includes support from DoD, DoE, Army, Air Force, Navy, FAA, NASA and industry.The following papers will also be included on the first day:‘Reliability issues with lead-free – What is happening in science research?’ Dr Chris Hunt, National Physical Laboratory‘Impact of handling PCBs & the correlation of cleanliness & SIR Results’Doug Pauls, Rockwell Collins, USA.‘Voiding in BGA & the Potential Impact on Reliability’Dave Hillman, Rockwell Collins, USA. ‘RoHS and REACH – are they killing the industry in Europe?’Nigel Burtt, Enjaybee Associates. Graham Naisbitt will chair ‘Question Time’ with a panel of experts, including all the first day speakers.The day will conclude with SMART Group 26th Anniversary Birthday Celebrations.
Day Two, 7th October, will be welcomed by Peter Swanson SMART Group Honorary Life Vice President. The Keynote Presentation is by Doug Pauls and Dave Hillman from Rockwell Collins USA with their joint presentation ‘New Cleaning and Cleanliness Specifications for PCBs & Assemblies’With the release of J-STD-001E and IPC-A-610E, there are questions related to cleaning and cleanliness, as always. In this presentation, Doug and Dave cover the cleanliness aspects of standards, as well as IPC-5704 the new IPC standard on bare board cleanliness.
