Encoder Discs and Strips to get More Precise
Miniaturising Motion Control
Metal encoder discs and strips, for motion control, positioning and measurement, can now be produced in any volume, smaller and more accurately than ever before thanks to a new manufacturing processes pioneered by
Precision Micro
.
Standard slot counts and bespoke requirements can both be met in the same economical fashion thanks to LEEF (Laser Evolved Electroforming), a unique process for the manufacture of the most accurate and fine-featured discs and strips.
Apertures of less than 15 microns can be achieved with high repeatability, smooth walls with optically sharp edges, without the use of prohibitively expensive glass master tooling.
Burr-free, stress-free discs and strips are formed by electrodeposition, atom by atom, onto a digitally patterned mandrel and can be either totally flat or multi-level.
The multi-level process can produce discs and strips that are exceptionally thin in the feature area to facilitate a crisp, well defined light pulse, while being thicker in other areas to meet mechanical requirements.
